JinDiao Root Art

Every material has a direction. We carve with it.

JinDiao Root Art is an artisan studio devoted to Oriental natural art. We work with roots, bamboo and stone, respecting the grain, weight and irregular beauty that make each material distinct.

Our works range from sculptural objects and plaques to statement pieces for indoor and outdoor settings. Each commission begins with the atmosphere of the space, not a catalogue template.

Three Materials

Root, bamboo and stone.
Each speaks differently.

The aim is not to make three materials look alike. Their original character gives each work a quiet and lasting presence in space.

Art Works

Art shaped by material, scale and place.

From monumental root carvings to quiet stone objects, each piece retains the strength of its original material and the marks of patient handwork.

Root Carving Collection

Root Carving

The original direction of the root remains visible: voids, grain, turns and weathered edges. Carving clarifies the material without flattening its character.

Bamboo Carving Collection

Bamboo Carving

Bamboo offers a quieter scale. Fine fibres, calligraphy and restrained knife work come together in objects made for close viewing.

Stone Carving Collection

Stone Carving

Stone brings weight, texture and a quieter sense of permanence. Inkstones, inscribed pieces, sculptural objects and seal carvings retain the character of the material and the marks of the hand.

Artist & Craft

The first act of craft is attention.

Every root, bamboo surface and stone has a different grain, weight and temperament. Before carving, we study the material and decide what should remain untouched.

01

Root Direction

Natural voids, turns and edges remain visible, allowing the root to retain its original force.

02

Bamboo Knife Work

Fine fibres, calligraphy and negative space are balanced through controlled hand carving.

03

Stone Texture

The weight and surface of stone are respected, leaving clear and restrained marks of the hand.

Material Details

Look closer. Time is visible in the surface.

Natural root lines, bamboo fibres, hand-cut calligraphy and the weight of carved stone are not polished into uniformity. These details allow each work to retain the breathing rhythm of its material.

Custom Creation

A considered process for a singular piece.

A custom work begins with context: where it will live, how it will be seen and what atmosphere it should bring to the space.

01

Space & Purpose

Share images, location, indoor or outdoor conditions and the intended use.

02

Scale & Material

Define suitable dimensions and materials for viewing distance and conditions.

03

Direction & Budget

Agree on artistic direction, scope, budget range and expected timing.

04

Handcrafting

Carving, refining and finishing proceed in response to the chosen material.

05

Packing & Shipping

Protective packing and shipping conditions are planned for the work's scale.

06

Placement Advice

We advise on orientation, breathing room and installation for statement pieces.
